TNR Project in full swing

Jul 27th, 2022

We are happy to announce that the TNR Project in Fire Island Pines is going very smoothly. Cats and kittens are being rescued and scheduled for TNR at a rapid pace and we are strongly focusing the use of the Trap-Neuter-Return program to get through as many colony cats as possible. We believe this to be the fastest and and most efficient way to prevent the unwanted pregnancies of kittens being born in The Pines. Thank you again everyone for your continued support and encouragement. 🐱💙

Mar 2nd, 2022

It is with much excitment that we are happy to announce that the TNR Project will be resuming this season starting in April! Boardwalk Pet Rescue is now operating throughout the summer months and can help all summer long while the community is still on the island! To schedule a TNR appointment and have us come to you please email us. We look forward to helping this FIP 2022 season! 🐱💙

Cancelled: TNR Project week of 12/13

Dec 10th, 2021

Due to transportation issues the TNR Project scheduled for the week of December 13th has been cancelled.

We will be in touch with anyone who had an appointment with us to reschedule.

Cancellation was due to surgery release times from the vets office being later than the last ferry back to The Pines. With limited transportation options we had no choice but to move the project.

We will provide updates when available. Thank you for your consideration 🐱💙

February 11th, 2021

A mid week rescue in the bitter cold temps out in Fire Island Pines resulted in the saving of one tabby kitten and two adult cats, one gray and one black. The kitten will be vaccinted, microchipped, fixed and put up for adoption. The adult cats will be TNR'd and returned back to the island to live the remainder of their non-reproductive lives! Two adult cats fixed ahead of our Spring TNR mission is a success in our book! Please support us by donating to our fundraiser! You can find the donation page under the Donate tab on our website!

Two kittens, a male and a female, have been rescued from Fire Island Pines and just in time! Snow storm Orlena has hit the northeast bringing lots of snow and cold conditions to the area. The kittens are currently safe indoors and a Facebook fundraiser has been created to cover the costs associated for caring for these kittens. You can donate or share at this link: https://www.facebook.com/donate/428928678163425/

New kittens spotted!

January 5th, 2021

Two new kittens have been reported to us in Fire Island Pines. They are living under a house with their mother and are being fed by the homeowners. Rescue efforts are scheduled to take place the weekend of January 8th. They are old enough to be rescued without their mother. We will report back with updates as the days come. In the meantime we are looking for donations to help support the vet costs associated with their rescue. You can email us at BoardwalkPetRescue@gmail.com and put "donate" in the subject line for information on how to send. We are used to using Facebook fundraising for donations but since using FB has an expiration date we are working on creating a continuous donation webpage once we form a non-profit 501(c)3. For now, donations under Zelle and Venmo are being used. Thank you in advanced for your continued support to help the Fire Island Pines kittens!
